Day14, Bushwalking & Birding

Looking for birds in trees, we almost missed this Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae)
We explored a bush walk up from the beach up on the ridge lines
A close up on a young fern leaf that is yet to unfurl
A fringed lilly flower
Practicing manual focus - on a fly Mr Miagi style...

Manual focus practice paid off, getting shots of hyperactive tiny birds that hid behind twigs that confused the cameras auto focus. A White-browed Scrubwren (Sericornis frontalis)

Brown Thornbill (Acanthiza pusilla)
White-cheeked Honeyeater (Phylidonyris nigra)
Dinner, Cucumber with Bagels, Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon seasoned with Salt and a crack of Pepper.

Day13, Oct 31 - Beach bumming

Happy Halloween ...with a belly full of candy stolen from trick or treaters... we headed off to do some house-sitting for a friend in Sydney living by the beach.

Before heading off we measured and weighed a Golden Crowned Snake (Cacophis squamulosus) which was released near where originally found in a back yard. Interestingly, one of the largest of this species i've seen at 72cm and 168g
One of the taunters.. Rainbow Lorikeet - one of many noisily chattering as the sun set, cheekilly hanging about nibbling and grooming.
A quick evening walk and we found some wild rabbits, an energetic long-nosed bandicoot & many birds that taunted us in the low light... we got better pics in the next few days c:
Homemade Butter Chicken with Broccolini, Mint-Yoghurt Naan, Lime Pickle and Buttery Jasmine Rice & a mug of Orange-Mango Juice & Bubbly. Nom!
